RNCM Cornet Day
Join us on Sunday 25 November 2018 for our inaugural RNCM Cornet Day, a day packed full of practical advice and inspiring sessions with acclaimed cornet players, Richard Marshall and Roger Webster.
The RNCM Cornet Day is for students aged 16+* who hold at least Grade 6 in Cornet or Trumpet (or the equivalent standard) aspiring to study cornet at a higher level.
*Under 16s can attend but must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
As part of the RNCM Cornet Day you can expect:
Master classes and tuition with RNCM staff, including performance, technique and ensemble classes; advice on preparing for performance; a Q&A session with our current students and graduates; a performance from an RNCM Cornet Ensemble and the opportunity to perform in an ensemble alongside RNCM students
The course will be led by acclaimed cornet players and educators Roger Webster and Richard Marshall. Roger Webster, RNCM Senior Tutor of Cornet, has been playing at the highest level with brass bands for over three decades. As a principal player, he has spent 10 years with the Black Dyke band, 7 with CWS Glasgow, 4 with Grimethorpe and a short spell at Brighouse and Rastrick. Richard Marshall, RNCM Tutor in Cornet, began playing the cornet at the age of nine and at 19 became principal cornet of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, a position he held for 10 years. Richard is currently principal cornet of the world-famous Black Dyke Band.
The cost for the day is £30 (£18 for under 18s), which includes the full day of events, running from 10am – 6pm.
