Elland Silver Youth raise funds for the European
Elland Silver Youth Band continues to raise funds to meet the cost of representing England at the European Youth Championships in Montreux next year. The defending European Development Section Champion will undertake a 12 hour session of rehearsals, sectionals, solos, duets and quartets on Saturday 22ndSeptember. The musicians will start playing at 9.00am with the day concluding at 9.00pm.
Support will be in plentiful supply from all sections of the organisation, as well as family members, friends and supporters who will visit the band room on Dewsbury Road in Elland to listen and purchase home-made cakes and refreshments. Guest players are also welcome to bring their instruments at 7pm and join a massed band finale. Plans are also in place to live stream the event on social media via the bands Facebook page, so listeners will be able to send in requests for a favourite piece in return for a donation.
Musical Director Samantha Harrison commented: "This is a huge undertaking for our youngsters, but also a great opportunity to show how much fun and enjoyment they have in doing something they love. We hope supporters will pledge donations to help us make the trip to Montreux, which should be an unforgettable experience."
