Moore At Brighouse
The current National Champions, The Brighouse & Rastrick Band, has announced that the highly respected Andy Moore has been appointed to the Solo Horn chair as the band continues its preparation for the British Open.
No stranger to the principal position, Andy led the Brighouse horn section on Edward Gregson’s ‘Of Distant Memories’ at the Royal Albert Hall in 2013, where the Band gained an impressive 4th prize off the dreaded number 1 draw.
A spokesman for B&R said, “Andy is one of top banding’s relatively unsung heroes, an outstanding horn player and a bandsman who can be relied upon both on and off the stage.
This permanent appointment to the Solo Horn position is well deserved and welcomed by everyone at Brighouse”.
Brighouse has also acted swiftly in signing the experienced Trevor McCormick to the 1st Horn position, whilst long serving Brighouse horn player Ian Dust continues to provide
the section with stability and a wealth of musical experience.
Commenting on his new position, Andy said, “It is a huge honour to step up to the solo horn seat in my 7th year with the band. The opportunity to work with Professor David King on a
principal seat is hugely appealing, and I am looking forward to leading a tenor horn section filled with excellent musicality and experience.”
