Pontardulais to develop new brass band talent

A new initiative led by Pontardulais Band hopes to inspire a new generation of brass and percussion players in West Wales through a series of workshops. In association with Create! Music Education and funded by a Ty Cerdd 'Music in Communities' grant the aim is to encourage youngsters to make music by introducing them to brass banding. The initiative has also gained support from the Austin Bailey Foundation.

A Percussion Day will take place on 29th September aimed at complete beginners through to Grade 1 standard and will include elements of tuned and non-tuned activities with a variety of instruments. A Brass Day will then take place on Saturday 6th October for beginners through to Grade 5 standard players and will feature fun and exciting music arranged especially for junior band.

Both days will be held from 10.00 – 16.00 at Pontardulais band hall (SA4 8SN), led by experienced musicians, featuring tuition and masterclasses as well as a free goody bag!
