Sad loss for RTB

It with great sadness that the Rothwell Temperance Band have announced the passing of their former 1st Horn player, Mark Lowe.

In what was a glittering career in top level banding, Mark progressed through the ranks at the Kippax and Wallace Arnold Rothwell Bands before moving on to the Rothwell Temperance Band in early 2005 following a hugely successful spell with Black Dyke.  Known for his reliability on stage and immaculate technique, Mark was instrumental in the most successful period in the band’s history with major victories coming at the All England Masters in 2006 and Yorkshire Regional Championship in 2009 as well as helping the band to achieve 5 consecutive appearances at the National Championships of Great Britain between 2008 and 2012.

As well as his contribution as a player Mark was an enormously generous supporter of the band via his company Aqua Enviro, sponsoring the CD release ‘Christmas Collection’ as well as purchasing weatherproof jackets for use at the Whit Friday March Contests.

Mark will be greatly missed but also warmly remembered by all who had the pleasure of sharing a stage with him at RTB and the band send all their best wishes, love and support to Mark’s family at this difficult time.

A funeral service for Mark will be held at Pontefract Crematorium on Monday August 6th commencing at 12:20.
