RNCM Brass Band end the year in style

The RNCM Brass Band concluded an extremely busy and fruitful academic year on Thursday evening with a concert performance conducted by Professor Nicholas Childs. The programme included a scintillating rendition of Edward Gregson’s ‘An Age of Kings’ in the presence of the composer.

Commenting on the band’s work over the past year, Dr. David Thorton stated, “It’s been a great year for the band and all the students; they’ve worked with David King, James Gourlay, Alexis Demailly, Thomas Rüedi, Sandy Smith as well as this concert with Nick. Repertoire has included classics such as ‘Diversions on a Bass Theme’ and ‘High Peak’, through to world premières of works by Jinjun Lee, Lucy Pankhurst and Daniel Bonaventure Lim. Thanks to all for another fantastic year of banding at the RNCM.”
