Whit Friday 2018
In spite of the typical damp British summer weather, the 2018 Whit Friday marches were enjoyed by thousands of competitors and spectators alike. Brighouse & Rastrick made it a hat-trick of Saddleworth & Oldham District Championship Whit Friday titles and Foden's have been crowned champions of Tameside for an eighth successive year.
Led by David Thornton the National Champions won victories at Delph, Denshaw, Dobcross, Greenfield, Grotton and Lydgate as well as a host of instrumental awards, pushing Faireys into second place with First Section Oldham (Lees) finishing in 3rd.
Foden's also notched up an impressive number of titles in Tameside. The band competed in 11 venues, winning a magnificent 7 and taking 3 runners-up spots leading to them winning the Tameside Rosebowl Trophy (now officially confirmed).
A full report of the event will appear in the next issue of the magazine.
