Black Dyke Festival   

There is still time to register for one of Black Dyke's most popular events of the year, as the Yorkshire hat-trick winning Champion Band from Queensbury hosts its Black Dyke Festival. 

Led by Director of Music Prof Nicholas Childs, the Festival provides a hub of musical activity and excellence which concludes afternoon concert at the magnificent Leeds Town Hall on Sunday 3rd June. 

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to work alongside many of the band's star soloists in masterclasses throughout the day. Players from the Yorkshire Youth, Armthorpe Elmfield, Buckley, Delph and Friezland Bands will also enjoy the chance to join Black Dyke on stage for a Gala Concert performance. 

This year see the introduction of a Conductor's Workshop, which will be led by Professor Nicholas Childs, where delegates will work on conducting technique using repertoire such as James Curnow's 'Trittico for Brass Band', to Derek Bourgeois' 'Serenade'. 
 
Spotlight workshops will also take place including Cornet (Richard Marshall), Middle Band (Siobhan Bates, Katrina Marzella and Zoe Hancock) and Lower Brass (Dan Thomas, Harry Cunningham and Les Neish). These workshops will include warm-ups, general technique and sight-reading session and are open to players of all ages and standards, with parts rehearsed for the massed bands items with Black Dyke. 

Registration on the day commences at 9.00am with the proceedings starting at 9.30am.
