BBE help promote 'Battles Over'

Brass Bands England is helping promote 'Battles Over', the country's tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of the ending of the First World War.
'Battles Over' on 11th November will mark the day exactly a century ago when the guns fell silent at the end of World War One.

BBE stated: "We are privileged to have been invited to provide support to 'Battles Over', a unique series of national and international events designed to help commemorate this important landmark in our nation's history.
Brass bands (and individual players) can play their part in remembering the sacrifice of millions of men and women by joining events on the evening of the 11th November, involving organisations and communities the length and breadth of the nation and abroad."

Brass bands and players are invited to join 1,000 pipers, 1,000 buglers and 100 Town Criers to coincide with the ringing of the church bells and the lighting of 'Beacons of Light' to undertake what is being called, 'A Cry for Peace around the World'.

The BBE spokesperson added: "Brass Bands England encourages our musical community to join the many thousands of people who will participate in this unique community project, commemorating the bravery and personal sacrifice made by so many, along with celebrating the light that emerged from the darkness of war."

Everyone taking part will be provided with an acknowledgement in the participation guide on the official website as well as a certificate of recognition which will be downloadable at www.brunopeek.co.uk from 30th November.
Those wanting to take part can do so by encouraging one or more players in your band to play the Last Post at 6.55pm, at a location of your choice on 11th November.
