Free Junior Brass Band Workshop at RWCMD
Dr Robert Childs, Acting Head of Brass at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, is leading a brass band workshop on Saturday 10th February. The workshop is completely free of charge and is open to any school-age brass player of Grade 5 standard and above.
The workshop will run from 9.30am to 2pm and promises to be an action-packed day of great music making, with repertoire including popular film scores such as 'Star Wars' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' amongst other works for brass band. The workshop will then conclude with an informal lunchtime concert, where the young musicians will get the chance to perform some of the day's music to a live audience within the country's finest music college.
Speaking about the event, international conductor, Robert Childs explained, "It's a great outreach venture for the RWCMD to undertake and I'm really looking forward to coaching the young brass talent of Wales today. Who knows, for some of the delegates this might be their first taste of the college they later decide to study at! I hope to see lots of young musicians on the 10th and would urge any brass teachers in the locality to mention this free event to their students."
Anyone wishing to attend the workshop should apply online at www.rwcmd.ac.uk/juniorevents
