Grimethorpe announce Sandy Smith as the new Resident M.D.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band is delighted to announce the appointment of Sandy Smith as their Resident Musical Director. Sandy needs little introduction to the banding world, having been a highly decorated and respected horn player with Black Dyke, Fairey and Grimethorpe Colliery Bands. The arrangements from his pen are played world-wide, such is his musical skill and ability.

On his return to the band Sandy said, "It's exciting to be back at Grimethorpe and to have the opportunity to further enhance and develop their reputation as a band, both on the concert platform and in the contest arena. The band has a number of well established top players and a new raft of younger talent eager to make music in the unique way that Grimethorpe do. I'm keen to work together to move the band forward, using the skills and personalities of its players and I'm also looking forward to preparing the band for Allan Withington's visit for the Yorkshire Area on Kevin Norbury's Odyssey"
