Young Adjudicators wanted for Huddersfield and Stevenage

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) are pleased to announce that they are, once again, running a joint initiative with the Yorkshire Regional Brass Band Committee (YRBBC) and the London and Southern Counties Regional Brass Band Committee (LSCRBBC) in the promotion of the ‘Young Adjudicators Scheme’ at the Yorkshire Regional competition at the Town Hall, Huddersfield on Saturday 3rd March and at the London and Southern Counties Regional competition at Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre on Saturday 17th March.

The ‘Young Adjudicators’ will be mentored by Nicholas Garman of the AoBBA Executive committee and leader of the Trainee Adjudicator Scheme, and will adjudicate the Third Section test piece 'Napoleon on the Alps' by Philip Harper in Huddersfield and 'Brass Metamorphosis' by James Curnow in Stevenage.

The official adjudicators will meet with the young adjudicator’s panel to discuss their adjudications. The ‘Young Adjudicators’ will be provided with seating near the official adjudicators box, a score of the test piece, remarks and results sheets. Band member tickets will also be provided for the young people and their parent or guardian(s), with a C.D. recording of the individual young person’s choice of winning band will be sent to them shortly after the contest.

There are four places for young people aged between 11 to 18 who wish to test their adjudicating skills under the guidance of Nicholas Garman. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) should be advised that the First Section in London is anticipated to finish at approximately 9pm. Anyone who wishes to participate should contact:
