De Waldsang win Dutch National Championships

De Waldsang  has claimed the Netherlands National title for the 15th time in Utrecht. The band convincingly beat their rivals, led by Rieks van der Velde, to secure their place as the most successful band in Dutch National Championship history.  
 
The popular test piece was 'Handel in the Band' by Kenneth Downie and the adjudication team comprised of Garry Cutt, Florent Didier and Jan Van der Roost. The judges certainly had their work cut out for them, with very little to choose between the three top placed bands, however, they felt that De Waldsang gave the most complete account with excellent soloist contributions, putting them ahead of Brassband Schoonhaven and De Bazuin Oenkerk. De Waldsang now look forward to competing at the 2018 European Brass Band Championships as the 'home nation' at the TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht in May.
