Lode Violet given the baton by his father

After educating the youth of Brass Band Willebroek for 15 years, Frans Violet has decided to hand over the baton to his son Lode Violet, Principal Cornet of Brassband Willebroek.

The band have been hugely successful under the direction of Frans, with the Young Brassband Willebroek winning a hat trick of European Youth Championships 3 times in addition to several other prizes including the Belgian title in 3rd, 2nd and 1st divisions.

Commenting on his decision Frans said: “For me the time had come to hand over the youth to Lode. By doing this, I will be able to fully concentrate on Brass Band Willebroek, whose agenda has become extremely busy over last couple of years. There have been a lot of great moments such as the hat trick at the European Youth Championships, which I am very proud of. Together with Christine Segers, director of the GO! Academy of Willebroek, we have all confidence in Lode for preparing the Youth to join Brass Band Willebroek sometime in the future.”

With the 22 year old Lode Violet now conducting the band, they will once again compete at the national championships in the 3rd section. Lode graduated at the Music Academy of Willebroek for his degree in conducting and is currently Resident Conductor of Mercator Brassband together with main conductor Johan De Win.

The band members of Young Brassband Willebroek are very thankful for Frans’ achievements and look forward to the collaboration with Lode Violet.
