Presteigne residency for Gregson
In the coming days, the music of Edward Gregson will be heard in the beautiful surroundings of the Welsh borders, in a small town with a distinctive charm of its own - Presteigne.
The Presteigne Festival runs from Thursday 24 August to Tuesday 28 August, and British comoser's residency at this year's event will see many of his works performed by a variety of ensembles.
Edward Gregson told BBW: "Seven of my works will be performed, two of which will be world premieres, including a new String Quartet, commissioned by the Festival and written for the Nightingale Quartet - a highly talented, new generation, all-female Quartet from Denmark, who won the Gramophone ‘Young Artists of the Year’ Award in 2014. Apart from anything else, Presteigne is a celebration of British music in its myriad of styles and persuasions. Indeed, on any one day there are likely to be more British composers seen wandering around than at any similar event in the UK."
