City of Chester’s unsung hero

Throughout the City of Chester Training Band’s 17-year existence, one person has worked quietly, but steadfastly to progress the Training Band and to ensure that it is a viable organisation undertaking engagements in its own right, whilst also providing valuable support to City of Chester Band. That person is Tony Blain, whose dedication and enthusiasm has now been recognised by the community at large.

On 16 May, Tony attended the Cheshire West Community and Voluntary Arts Awards evening, held in Chester Town Hall, representing the Training Band that was nominated for an award. Tony was not aware until it was announced, however, that he was actually the nominee for the award: Unsung Hero.
