Young Voice – Chris Flyn
Euphonium player, Chris Flynn, already has the world at his feet. Having picked up a brace of Scottish Championship titles in 2016, the 16-year-old from Carnoustie is showing no signs of slowing up, as Mark Good finds out.
MG: How is 2016 panning out for you so far?
CF: This year has been great! Highlights have been winning the Scottish Championships and the Scottish intermediate Solo title. I’m looking forward to the rest of a massively exciting and challenging year!
MG: Co-operative Funeralcare Band is one of the most high-profile bands in Scotland. How are you enjoying performing solo euphonium?
CF: I have been playing solo euphonium with the band since December and, during that time, I have learned a great deal whilst working with some incredible musicians and conductors. I’m extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity.
MG: You’ve been able to work with a wide variety of conductors. Who really stands out for you?
