Education: New Head of Wind, Brass and Percussion at RNCM

Nicholas Thompson brings a strong background in brass bands and ensembles to his position as RNCM Head of School from September.

Nicholas Thompson’s recent appointment as the Royal Northern College of Music’s (RNCM) Head of School for Wind, Brass and Percussion follows vast experience both as a world-class performer and music educator, including almost 30 years as Principal Trumpet of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe (COE). From 2000 to 2010, he was also Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion at London College of Music – a role that he combined with his COE position, which he continues to hold, and a successful freelance career.
