Pioneering North American champion

 

This month's Centre Band: Atlantic Brass

Formed in 1984, in the Greater Philadelphia/southern region of New Jersey by Yorkshire-born Herb Roselle, the newly crowned North American champion, Atlantic Brass Band, encompasses professional musicians, professors, educators, engineers, finance workers, small business owners and students.

MD, Salvatore Scarpa, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, is a faculty member at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, as well as Assistant Conductor of the Pennsylvania Ballet. Assistant MD/principal cornet, Dr. Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, is a Professor of Trumpet and Head of Brass at the same university. The latter has also played with Brighouse and Rastrick during a sabbatical in 2009/10 and is a tutor at the North American Brass Band Summer School.
