French heights for Hauts-de-France

The French National saw the Hauts-de-France Brass Band take the place of non-competing, but quintuple Champion, Paris Brass - Malcolm Wood captures the action

It was a case of 'what's in a name' at the French Championships held in Lyon last month, after Hauts-de-France Brass Band was declared the 2017 National Champion.  

With quintuple champion, Paris Brass Band, deciding not to defend

its title due to increased high-profile concert demands, the path was open for the band formerly known as Nord-Pas-de-Calais, now known as Hauts-de-France and a former three-times’ winner, to get its name engraved on the splendid trophy for the first time since 2011.
